As you're getting ready to watch the culmination of what is arguably one of the greatest shows of all time, why not go back to the beginning? Because who doesn't want to be this guy:
It was time to do another Quick + Easy costume, and what's more relevant right now than the titan that is Breaking Bad?
Not only will you be paying homage to the duo's first cook, but this way you don't have to Bic your head.
NOTE: if you're going to carry around rock candy, make sure it's the clear stuff. Blue so doesn't go with this outfit.

Why hello there, 2013! A Halloween run, you say?
Oh, hi! We're on the downslope of August now, which means one thing...
AUTUMN IS COMING!
And Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
And Football.
And, well... Halloween of course!
So where I have I been all this year? You may have already guessed it if you follow my other blog, A Taste of My Brain. But if not, I'll let you in on the not-really-a-secret secret.
I'm in SoCal!
It was time for a change, one that will greatly impact my autumnal happenings! So where to start? Just the other day, I heard about this on the radio...

For more details on the event, click here.
Does 13.1 miles sound a bit daunting? Good news! Meet Option #2:
Get a taste of what the Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Halloween Half Marathon benefiting the ASPCA is all about. Feel the excitement of 13.1 miles in a mini marathon distance (approximately 3.5 miles). Experience the thrill of live bands and cheer teams on the course and a rockin’ Finish Line Festival. The Mini is an untimed fun run, but there will be timing clocks at the Start Line, Finish Line and along the race course.
Even though this race is not timed, participants will still rock a race tee, swag bag and free beer at the end to enjoy along with live music and entertainment.
So who's going? Whatever you do, start planning your race attire now. Because what would a Halloween event be without a costume contest?

Quick + Easy Costumes Part 2: Rick Grimes
Only days left until Halloween! And you're either out of ideas or need a back-up costume for your multi-party weekend. Plus, you want to show that you're an up-to-speed geek without spending a fortune on something you'll never wear again. Here's part 2 of my quick + easy costume series:
Rick Grimes // The Walking Dead
You'll want to carry around a spray bottle full of water so you can always sport a sheen of sweat with this costume. Gun and holster are another must, but you can pick one up from any toy or costume shop for cheap.
Tip: go the extra mile and smear some dirt all over your skin. A couple fake wounds wouldn't hurt either.
More to come!

Quick + Easy Costumes: Katniss + Tony
So it's Halloween weekend and your lazy ass doesn't even have a costume yet. The shame! Well here's a couple quick and easy outfits you can throw together and be proud of. Best of all? These purchases are worth it--you can wear these clothes any time!
Katniss Everdeen // The Hunger Games
Pair with some boots, a braid + a quiver full of arrows and you're the girl on fire!
Tip: make homemade arrows using painted skewers and store-bought feathers. Clip the feathers to be one-sided, trim to a point and hot glue to one end of the skewer. Repeat.
Tony Stark // The Avengers
Must have facial hair and nicely quaffed hair to pull this one off. Good hygiene is key to a Tony Stark look.
Tip: rig a tap light to your chest beneath to sit beneath the
I'll try to post a series of these over the weekend. Think you have a good one? Send it over!

My 2nd Halloween: what was my mother thinking...
As a thanks to my Twitter followers today, I shared a photo of my 2nd Halloween. Donning a Sesame Street smock and a questionable layer of yellow face paint, this little girl was supposed to be Big Bird incarnate.
Yeah.
Thanks, mom. I look like I have jaundice.
